Words of Wisdom from The Biggest Loser: Don’t Ever Quit!

    By DaveM | December 6, 2006

I was watching The Biggest Loser on TV as I ate dinner tonight, and I heard some profound words of wisdom. One of the previous show participants was addressing a gymnasium full of high school kids, and he said something very simple - but it really hit me in the gut.

    Basically, his message was…

“The minute you quit something, you just made it a whole lot easier to keep quitting other things as you go through life.”

I’m paraphrasing a bit because I didn’t record his exact words. Anyway, I sat there thinking about this message and reflecting back on the many years I spent trying one “business opportunity” after another, and never finding success in any of them.

The core problem really wasn’t the business opportunities at all…it was me! Granted, I did get involved in a few questionable programs that didn’t come close to qualifying as real businesses, but for the most part everything else was perfectly legit. I’m the one who failed.

Looking back, I now realize that the first time I gave up on a business idea and decided to quit trying, I gave myself permission to quit the next business, and the next, and so on. Each time, it got easier and easier to just throw in the towel and try something else. It got so bad, that I would sometimes get all excited about a new money making venture one day, pay good money to “join”, and then quit the VERY NEXT DAY and request my money back.

Talk about sick in the head!

Bottom line, I’m done being a quitter! Quite honestly, I’m pissed off at myself and am ready to make some positive changes. After hearing that little pearl of wisdom from The Biggest Loser, I’m even more excited than I was before about my new business project. I can’t wait to really get moving and document my journey.

Failure is just NOT an option this time around!

(Isn’t anyone going to reprimand me for watching TV when I could have been working on my new business? Don’t worry, as soon as I finished eating the TV got turned off.) :-)

    Talk to you soon…
