A cross cut shredder could save your a$$!

    By DaveM | March 18, 2006

You know all those wonderful credit card offers you get in the mail? What do you usually do with them? Hopefully you don’t just rip them in half, or even into tiny piece and toss them in the trash.

Why? Because they have YOUR name and address on them and someone might just fish them out of the trash to sign themselves up for a new credit card.

Don’t believe me? Check out the experiment Rob did with a Chase credit card application. Basically, he ripped it up into small pieces, taped it back together, changed the address, and sent it in. He even used his cell phone number on the application! It wasn’t long before a brand new credit card was mailed to the address he used. He activated the card from his cell phone and was ready to start shopping.

No wonder identity theft is so easy - these credit card companies make it easy!

Moral of the story… Go buy yourself a nice cross-cut shredder and start USING IT! A strip shredder IS NOT good enough because a determined thief can actually tape the strips back together. A cross-cut shredder chops the paper up vertically and horizontally into tiny little bits that can’t be put back together.

Here’s the cross cut shredder I recently purchased from Amazon and I LOVE IT! It’s so powerful, I don’t even have to open the envelopes. It just begs for more!

Shred ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that has your name, address, phone number, account numbers, or any other personal information on it. Heck, just SHRED IT ALL! Maybe you could use the shredded paper as free packing material for your eBay auction sales. ;-)
