Let’s Make Some Money Online the RIGHT Way!

If you’ve visited my home page lately, then you already know things are taking a slightly different tack around here. Actually, this idea has been brewing for a several months, but it’s starting to come to a head and I’ve decided to make it somewhat of a holiday/New Year’s resolution for myself.
Here’s the deal… For FAR too long, I’ve been what you might call an “Opportunity Junkie”. My focus has always been on trying to make a buck rather than providing a valuable product and/or service people really want and benefit from.
The sad part is that I’ve probably heard the saying, “Do what you love and the money will follow” a thousand times, but I haven’t heeded the advice. My approach has been, “Try like hell to make money by any means possible, and maybe someday you’ll love what you do.” Well, I can tell you in no uncertain terms — MY approach to online business thus far HAS NOT worked!
So, how am I going to remedy the situation? Well, I do have the benefit of having been online since 1997 and seeing lots of different stuff. Over the years, I’ve collected an absolutely vast amount of information and knowledge about what works and what doesn’t work when it comes to making money online. That’s a good thing, but it takes much more than that.
Have you heard the saying, “Knowledge is Power?” Well, that’s crap! Knowledge alone is not power. APPLIED knowledge is power! Probably more than 80% of success in business depends on the person, not the business or system they are involved in.
Anyway, just over this past weekend, I was sitting on the couch surfing the web on my laptop (as usual) and my wife was sitting in the room watching something on the TV and working on our holiday greeting cards. All of the sudden, it hit me! After 15 years of various money making attempts, 9 of which were online, I finally got an original idea for a real online business! I was a little skeptical of the idea (based on my history), as was my wife, so I decided to sleep on it (at her urging) for a few days.
Here I am, a few days later, and I’m still fired up about my business idea. 
OK, so I have this great idea for a new web-based business, but how do I go about making it all happen?? I mean there are all sorts of things to consider such as finding sources for products, a domain name, keyword research, web hosting, designing a website, search engine optimization, auto-responder services, link building with other sites, and all sorts of other marketing and business tasks that require time, money, tools and expertise.
That could make almost anyone think twice about going into business before they even begin!
Well, you know what? I’m fine will all that and I plan to trudge ahead, no matter what, and make this business work!
You see, I have a secret weapon that will be at my disposal during this new business journey. I’ve gone back through all the online marketing related eBooks, courses, special reports, ezines, websites and various other products & services that have cluttered my computer over the years, and picked out what I truly feel is the cream of the crop.

Here’s a little confession, and then I’ll wrap this post up… I purchased SBI from SiteSell back in 2003 because I thought I could build a website about how to make money on eBay. I researched my idea for a few days, started building a website, and then gave up because it seemed almost impossible to ever stand out of the HUGE crowd of other “how to get rich on eBay” sites.
Just so you know, building a successful income generating website about anything to do with “getting rich online” or “how to do affiliate/mlm/network marketing” is about as futile as pushing a rope up a hill. Everybody and their brother (and sister, and cousin, and nephew, and…) has a website about making money online. Heck - THIS website is basically about making money online. But bottom line, I don’t expect to get rich off of this website - I’ve accepted that. Shoot, if I make $25/month just from Google AdSense ads, then I’ve covered my maintenance costs and I’m a happy camper.
The beauty of this site is that I’m going to use it as a journal to document my new business venture with the help of SiteSell and Site Build It. It’s really mostly for my benefit and to maintain a historical record of everything I do along the way. In the process of me doing that, I’m hoping you will benefit from my writing as well. If just one person learns something about doing business online the right way as a result of this website, then I will be extremely pleased with myself and will consider this time well spent.

Oh, as you might have guessed, I can’t reveal the juicy details of my new business idea just yet. I’ll document my progress with SBI and give you as much info as I can along the way. When the time is right, you’ll definitely be one of the first to find out about my new website!
